Ramen meets Mee Pok: Li Yuan Mee Pok

Are you a ramen kinda girl or mee pok kinda girl? If this question stumps you because you can’t decide between the two, say hello to Li Yuan Mee Pok. They serve mee pok with ingredients that you would find in a ramen dish. My mum introduced me to this stall, after reading about them in the news and after queuing for about 20-30min, we got to try this Japanese fusion mee pok.

Worth the queue? Yes. The noodles were springy and every bit of the dish was very flavourful – we ordered the soup as well as the dry version of the Miso Mee Pok ($6) and preferred the dry version. Foodies will appreciate the crisp, sinful bits of pork lard, while the Japanese char siew is well, char siew – easily liked.

Portion size is relative but I found it to be just nice for me. Not too full/gerlat (rich) after the meal but  I was definitely satiated. Costs-wise, this may not be my go-to lunch option but it’s a nice alternative to a ramen craving or a soup-ed up version of your mee pok dreams.

8/10 would queue for this again. 🙂

If you want to tag them on Instagram, the location tag is Ah Li Mee Pok. :p
